Staff transitions are always bittersweet. Thankfully, goodbyes are followed by hellos, and we are so thrilled to welcome Kenzie Wells to the Hope Africa Collective staff team. As our Donor Relations and Social Media Manager, Kenzie handles donor communication, donation processing and administration, and social media communications. She is most definitely in her sweet spot, which is evidenced through her work.

“I love bringing life to other people’s stories through words. Being able to witness the life-changing work that God is doing in a different country, and then have the opportunity to transcribe that work for those of us here in the U.S. is an honor and privilege. I love using words and photos to powerfully illustrate events or experiences where God’s hand is clearly present.”

After Kenzie graduated high school with her associate’s degree, she went to college for nursing. She discovered, however, that it wasn’t the right path for her. She’s spent eighteen months exploring other passions, such as writing, student ministry, public speaking, brand ambassadorship, and event planning. When the opportunity presented itself for her to help bring Hope Africa Collective’s mission to life, she jumped at it.

“Five years ago I went on a 10-day missions trip with my church to serve at Hope Africa. I immediately fell in love with South Africa, its people, Hope Africa, and the Hilliard family. Over the years, I never had the opportunity to return, however I still stayed connected with the Hilliards and kept up to date with each team my church sent over there. This summer, in visiting with the Hilliards, I was asked if I would be interested in joining the Hope Africa team here in the U.S. Almost instantly, I knew my answer was ‘yes’. And now here I am!”

Kenzie lives in Orlando, Florida, and enjoys spending her time with family and friends in the great outdoors. From swimming to hiking to running, she’s wired for outdoor action! She comes from a loud family of 8 and considers food to be one of her love languages. (So clearly she’s a girl after our own hearts.)

Welcome to the team, Kenzie. We are so blessed to have you!
