Hope Changes Everything

The late Nelson Mandela once said —

“Poverty is not an accident. Like slavery and apartheid, it is man-made and it can be overcome by the actions of human beings… Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice…  Sometimes it falls upon a generation to be great. You can be that great generation… Do not look the other way…”

While it might seem contradictory at first, money is not the antidote for poverty. Hope is. Hope changes everything. It brings freedom from the past and from circumstances. It sparks passion and vision for the future. It instills the belief that things not only should change, but they can.

Hope leads to empowerment… to growth… to development. Hope stirs one toward action, and inspires individuals to band together and make a difference in their community.

The real work of overcoming poverty in Africa happens not with hand-outs or charitable aid. The real work happens when we invest directly in the incredible people of Africa. Africans are strong, intelligent, resilient. They are entrepreneurs, creatives, leaders. And they alone hold both the power and the solutions to abolish extreme poverty in their communities.

Through your partnership, we are empowering next generation leaders in under-resourced African communities with leadership skills, financial literacy, Biblical training, workplace readiness, and successful job placement. With hope, education, and empowerment, they are creating a ripple effect of sustainable change in their churches and throughout their communities.

This is how we overcome extreme poverty, together.

Thank you for not looking the other way and for being that “great generation” Mandela spoke of. Your vital partnership continues to make a lasting impact. Thank you for engaging in this crucial work through your prayers and support, rewriting Africa’s future with hope.
